Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2026) vs Kobo Libra Colour
Compare two 7-inch readers with IPX8 claims by color, stylus support, storage and book ecosystem.
The decision in brief
How the options differ
Both selections have a 7-inch display, adjustable warm light and an IPX8 claim for 60 minutes in 2 meters of water under manufacturer conditions. Libra Colour adds a color display, optional Kobo Stylus 2 support and 32 GB nominal storage. The 2026 Paperwhite is a monochrome Kindle-store reader that was a dated pre-order when checked.

Package and specification details
Decide whether color or a pen matters
Libra Colour uses Kaleido 3 and distinguishes 300 PPI black-and-white from 150 PPI color content; Kobo Stylus 2 is optional and sold separately. Amazon describes a 300 ppi Paperwhite display and names no compatible stylus for this model. Its chart lists a color display only for Kindle Colorsoft, so the lineup's 'edge-to-edge color' wording is not a color screen.
The Paperwhite has 16 GB nominal storage, of which Amazon states 10.8 GB is available; Libra Colour has 32 GB nominal storage. Kindle setup requires Wi-Fi and an Amazon account, and EPUB is converted rather than read natively. Kobo supports its store and files including EPUB and PDF. Neither nominal figure guarantees a fixed number of books, and neither format list removes DRM.
