Compare two eight-port unmanaged 2.5GbE switches by exact revision, stated power and documented installation.
The decision in brief
How the options differ
Both selections list eight 2.5 Gb/s copper ports, 40 Gb/s aggregate switching, fanless enclosures and an external 12 V / 1 A supply. The practical differences are the exact revision being ordered, each manufacturer's stated maximum consumption and what each package says about installation.

Name the revision before comparing
QNAP's current page is for QSW-1108-8T-R2. Its site labels the earlier QSW-1108-8T as Legacy and lists 18 W and 12 V / 1.5 A for it. TP-Link's figures here apply to TL-SG108-M2 V2. Keep each figure with its own revision, and confirm the -US part or V2 label on the delivered box.
Each lists 100 Mb/s, 1 Gb/s and 2.5 Gb/s negotiation and 40 Gb/s switching capacity. QNAP also states 20 Gb/s total non-blocking throughput. None of these is the speed of one device connection; real transfers depend on network adapters, cabling and storage. No throughput test is claimed.
QNAP lists a 12 W maximum for R2 and TP-Link lists 8.45 W for V2. These are maxima from different manufacturers' tables, not a controlled energy comparison. Both describe fanless designs, which still need clear ventilation.
TP-Link lists desktop or wall mounting with the switch, power adapter, installation guide and rubber feet. QNAP lists a desktop form factor and packs bracket screws, anchors and foot pads, but its specification gives no wall-mounting method. Neither package lists Ethernet patch cables.
These manufacturer specifications do not establish measured performance, noise, long-term reliability or running cost. We have not independently tested these products. Check current prices, stock and operating-space instructions with the seller and manufacturer.

Copper Ethernet ports
The number of supplied switched copper ports.
