Two fanless eight-port 2.5GbE unmanaged switches: compare the published maximum power and the switching-capacity evidence. The adapter details and the mounting kits each US package lists are covered.
The decision in brief
How the options differ
Both are fanless, unmanaged eight-port switches negotiating 100 Mb/s, 1 Gb/s and 2.5 Gb/s. The TP-Link V2 documents 40 Gb/s switching capacity, an 8.45 W maximum and a 12 V / 1 A external supply; the NETGEAR MS308 documents a 7.98 W maximum, while its aggregate switching figure and exact adapter rating were not established. NETGEAR lists a wall-mount kit in the box; TP-Link lists rubber feet.

The buying guide
Package and specification details
Compare the documented limits, not the assumptions
The TL-SG108-M2 V2 page documents 40 Gb/s switching capacity for eight ports. For the MS308, an explicit aggregate switching figure was not established and is not calculated from the port count. Published maximum consumption is 8.45 W for the TP-Link V2 and 7.98 W for the NETGEAR, both manufacturer limits rather than measured typical loads.
Check the power adapter for the delivered revision
TP-Link specifies an external 12 V / 1 A supply and asks you to confirm the exact US adapter and hardware revision; the V2 figures do not combine with older revisions. NETGEAR lists a supply, but the exact electrical adapter rating was not established in the retrieved US table.
Both support desktop or wall mounting. The MS308 package documents the switch, power adapter, wall-mount kit and installation guide; the TL-SG108-M2 V2 package lists the switch, power adapter, installation guide and rubber feet. No cabling-installation or throughput test is claimed for either.
These manufacturer specifications do not establish measured performance, noise, long-term reliability or running cost. We have not independently tested these products. Check current prices, stock and operating-space instructions with the seller and manufacturer.
Single standard US switch package. Confirm hardware revision and regional adapter; no live-stock, cabling-installation or throughput test is claimed.

Advertised switching capacity
Aggregate switching capacity explicitly stated by the manufacturer.
Do not treat a full-duplex aggregate as one port speed or calculate an undocumented rating from port count.
