How the options differ
DS925+ ships with 4 GB of ECC memory and supports 32 GB, with two 2.5GbE ports. DXP4800 Plus ships with 8 GB of DDR5 and supports 64 GB, with one 10GbE and one 2.5GbE port, plus a 128 GB system SSD that is boot storage rather than a data drive. DS425+ ships with 2 GB and supports 6 GB, with one 2.5GbE and one 1GbE port. All three have two M.2 slots, and Synology's M.2 pools and cache still require listed drives.

Package and specification details
Compare the memory type and ceiling, not just the installed amount
DS925+ has 4 GB of DDR4 ECC with a 32 GB maximum using matching modules. DXP4800 Plus has 8 GB of DDR5 with a 64 GB maximum; UGREEN's on-die ECC description is not a full system-ECC claim. DS425+ has 2 GB onboard plus one slot for a supported 4 GB module, giving a 6 GB ceiling. Pick the ceiling that fits the applications you expect to add, using the documented compatible modules.

Look at the complete network path for each port set
DXP4800 Plus supplies one 10GbE and one 2.5GbE port. DS925+ supplies two 2.5GbE ports and DS425+ one 2.5GbE plus one 1GbE port. A 10GbE port only pays off when the computer, switch and cabling support it, and two ports do not automatically combine for one transfer. These are nominal rates; we have not measured file-copy speeds for any of them.

Read the drive and M.2 rules that apply to the model and software
Each enclosure has two M.2 2280 slots with SSDs separate. On DS925+ and DS425+, M.2 storage pools and cache require drives on Synology's compatibility list, while DSM 7.3 permits non-validated third-party SATA drives on these 2025 models as checked in September 2026. DXP4800 Plus includes a 128 GB system SSD as boot storage; it does not turn the diskless package into a populated offer, and UGREEN's compatible drive and RAM lists still apply.

Common questions
Are DXP4800 Plus, DXP4800 and DXP4800 Pro the same product?
No. These specifications apply to the DXP4800 Plus, base SKU 35260, without the UPS or external-SSD bundles. The other names are different models with their own specifications.

Do the Synology packages include the DX525 expansion enclosure or extra memory?
No. The DS925+ package lists the main unit, accessory pack, power adapter and cord and two LAN cables; drives, extra memory and the DX525 are separate. The DS425+ enclosure likewise excludes drives, M.2 SSDs and the optional memory module.
