Package and specification details
Count bays and M.2 positions separately
DXP6800 Pro offers six SATA bays and two user M.2 positions; its separate system SSD does not add a third storage slot. AS6804T offers four SATA bays and four M.2 2280 NVMe slots at PCIe 4.0 x1, with both storage and cache uses documented. If you expect to add many spinning drives, the six bays matter; if you expect several NVMe drives, the four slots matter. Drives are separate purchases in both cases.

Weigh ECC memory against the larger factory amount
AS6804T ships with one 16 GB ECC DDR5-4800 SODIMM and supports 64 GB over two slots; ASUSTOR warns that installing or mixing non-ECC memory disables ECC. DXP6800 Pro ships with 8 GB of DDR5 and also supports 64 GB, but its on-die ECC feature does not establish full system ECC. Use the documented compatible modules for either enclosure.

Check the ports and the expansion trade-off before planning a network card
Both supply two 10GbE ports; AS6804T adds two 5GbE ports. Two ports do not guarantee a 20 Gb/s transfer to one client, and port aggregation or SMB Multichannel has its own network and client requirements. On AS6804T, the optional 10GbE card requires removing the M.2 daughterboard, so decide whether the four factory ports are enough before giving up the four M.2 positions.

The AS6804T package includes the NAS, AC adapter and cord, four LAN cables and drive-mounting screws, with factory 16 GB ECC memory. The DXP6800 Pro base SKU 25898 includes factory 8 GB and a 128 GB system SSD used for booting. HDDs, SSDs and additional memory are separate for both.
