WD My Passport SSD vs SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD (2TB)
Compare two 2TB packages sold from the same US store by ingress protection, supplied accessories and password conditions.
The decision in brief
How the options differ
Both selections list a 10 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection, up to 1050 MB/s read and 1000 MB/s write, hardware encryption and the same cable-and-adapter pairing, and both are sold on sandisk.com. The differences are the IP65 claim, which only the Extreme lists, and the conditions attached to each password workflow.

Package and specification details
Same store, different nameplates
The My Passport SSD is a WD-branded drive sold on Sandisk's US store, and the westerndigital.com address for this SKU now redirects there. Its 2023 data sheet still attributes the WD and My Passport trademarks to Western Digital Corporation. The shared seller does not merge the products: WDBAGF0020BBL-WESN and SDSSDE61-2T00-G25 remain different parts.
Both pages list up to 1050 MB/s read and 1000 MB/s write. The My Passport figures come from internal testing on a stated USB 3.1 Gen 2 desktop. Neither figure is a CompareFoundry measurement, and the host port, cable and files still limit real transfers.
The Extreme page lists IP65. The My Passport sources claim drop resistance to 6.5 ft (1.98 m) but state no IP rating, so its ingress protection is unknown rather than absent. Both list 256-bit AES hardware encryption, but SanDisk excludes USB-C smartphones from Extreme password support, and the My Passport data sheet names only older Windows and macOS versions for its password software.
The selected package is sold on Sandisk's US store, and the former westerndigital.com product address redirects there. The drive still carries the WD brand, so identify it by the exact part number WDBAGF0020BBL-WESN.
These manufacturer specifications do not establish measured performance, noise, long-term reliability or running cost. We have not independently tested these products. Check current prices, stock and operating-space instructions with the seller and manufacturer.
