Measure the window opening and check the outlet first, then compare listed capacity, CEER and the documented compressor type before looking at app and noise claims.
Window-mounted room air conditioners sold new in the US, in the common 8,000 to 12,000 Btu/h class. Portable, through-the-wall-only and mini-split units, installation services and measured cooling, noise or energy-cost rankings are outside this catalogue.
Specifications come from the linked manufacturer documents and seller listings. We have not independently tested these products.
Before you choose.
Will the unit fit your window opening?
Manufacturers publish a minimum and maximum opening width and a minimum vertical opening for standard single- or double-hung windows. These are installation ranges, not a fit guarantee for your frame, sill or storm window.
Which capacity and efficiency figures are you comparing?
Compare the listed cooling capacity and CEER on the same basis, preferably the ENERGY STAR listing for the exact model number. A room-size figure is a manufacturer claim, not a sizing calculation for your room.
Can your outlet and circuit supply it?
Units in this class use a 115 V plug, but rated amps and the required circuit protection differ. Follow the manufacturer's electrical requirements and ask a qualified electrician when the circuit is in doubt.
