Siser lists a 25 in maximum material width for Romeo and supplies a 12 x 12 in mat, without stating a usable cut area on a mat. Silhouette documents 305 x 610 mm with a cutting mat for the Cameo 5 Alpha, whose package includes a 12-inch standard mat rather than the larger one. For wide banners and decals, check Romeo's roll workflow; mat projects are better documented for the Cameo.

Long cuts without a mat
Romeo lists cut lengths of 5 yards or more with its supplied material roll holder. Silhouette supports matless cutting on supported lined media only. In both cases the material and backing must suit the machine; run a test before a long job.

Print and cut
Romeo uses a camera on the cutter head to read registration marks. The Cameo 5 Alpha uses four-point registration and needs Silhouette Studio 5.0.402 or later. Neither printed-project area is a substitute for the basic cut size, and Siser documents no maximum printed area.

Software and SVG files
Leonardo Design Studio is free with Romeo, with Leonardo Pro as an optional subscription; SVG import and its edition requirement were not established. For the Cameo, opening SVG files requires the paid Designer Edition or above. Check the exact file workflow you rely on before buying.

Allow for size and setup
Siser lists Romeo at 36.25 x 7.75 x 7.5 in and 21 lb, and asks for space in front of and behind the cutter without giving a distance. Romeo connects by Wi-Fi or USB and can cut files from a USB flash drive. Silhouette lists the Cameo 5 Alpha at W 566 x D 176 x H 124 mm.
