Shure MV7+ vs MV7i: XLR output or second-source input?
Choose the connection direction before comparing software or recording modes.
The decision in brief
How the options differ
These standard packages serve different signal paths. MV7+ can feed a mixer through passive XLR. MV7i accepts another microphone or instrument and sends the sources to a USB host. Neither selected package supplies a desk stand.

The buying guide
Package and specification details
Follow the arrow on the connection
Use MV7+ when the required destination is an XLR mixer input. MV7i has no corresponding microphone XLR output: its combo socket receives a second source. Buying it as an interchangeable XLR microphone would leave that requirement unmet.

Choose the recording mode deliberately
MV7i offers a mono mix or separate mono tracks for its microphone and input. Its stereo mode requires TRS input and places the built-in microphone in both sides. Confirm that the recording application uses the intended channels before the session.

Budget space for the complete setup
Both selected packages supply USB cables and mounting hardware. A base or arm, headphones and any additional source equipment are separate choices. Check mounting threads and the connected microphone phantom-power requirement; the MV7i default is enabled.

XLR microphone output
Whether the microphone provides an analogue XLR audio output.
An XLR input accepts another source and does not satisfy this field. XLR output normally needs a separate mixer or interface for computer recording.

Recording paths and modes
How the microphone and any additional source reach the recorder.
