BB10012 vs BBGC3 vs LiTime Group 24: one battery for a house bank, by current, size and weight
Decide between a 100 Ah battery in a Group 24, 27 or 31 case and a single 270 Ah GC3 battery, using the BMS limits, dimensions and weight each maker publishes.
The decision in brief
How the options differ
The two 100 Ah packages share a 100 A continuous discharge rating but differ in case size, weight and maximum charge current. The BBGC3 puts 270 Ah behind a 300 A BMS in one 80.8 lb case. None of these figures is a measured runtime, and the Battle Born pages publish no watt-hour rating.

Match the BMS to the load and charger
BB10012 allows 100 A discharge, 200 A for 30 seconds and 50 A maximum charge. BBGC3 allows 300 A discharge, 500 A for 30 seconds and 135 A maximum charge. The LiTime Group 24 allows 100 A discharge and 100 A charge with 280 A for 5 seconds. Peak figures last only their stated seconds.
The LiTime Group 24 is about 21 lb in a Group 24 case. BB10012 is 31 lb at 12.76 x 6.86 x 8.95 in, described as a Group 27 and Group 31 replacement. BBGC3 is 80.8 lb at 22.83 x 7.09 x 13.15 in. A group-size statement does not guarantee fit in your tray; check terminal height and hold-downs.
Read the cold-charging and cycle claims as written
Both Battle Born data sheets list a cold charging cutoff with a 25°F to 135°F charge range and 3,000 to 5,000 cycles at 100% depth of discharge. LiTime lists no cutoff for the basic model and 4,000 cycles at 100% DoD. None of these claims states a retained-capacity endpoint.
Are the Heated and Smart Battle Born options the same battery?
No. BB10012 and BBGC3 are the Non-Heated Standard SKUs. Heated and Smart selections on the same pages carry different SKUs and features and are not recorded here.
These manufacturer specifications do not establish measured performance, noise, long-term reliability or running cost. We have not independently tested these products. Check current prices, stock and operating-space instructions with the seller and manufacturer.
The maximum continuous discharge current the battery management system allows.
Compare this with your largest sustained load. It is separate from the peak rating and from the charge limit, and a larger number does not establish quality.

The published peak or surge discharge current with its stated duration.
A peak figure applies only for the seconds the maker states. Do not size inverters or motors from it, and keep any inconsistent wording visible.

The maximum continuous charge current published for the battery.
Makers often recommend a lower charge current than the maximum. Match the charger to the recommended figure and voltage for the exact model.

The documented cold-charging cutoff, its threshold and the stated charge temperature range.
A cutoff protects the cells by stopping charge; it does not warm them. Where no cutoff is listed, the battery relies on you to avoid charging below the stated range.

Self-heating
Whether this exact model documents an internal heater for cold-weather charging.
Heated versions of a battery are usually separate SKUs. Heating conditions, such as a minimum charger current, are recorded in the note and differ by maker.
The BCI group size or case form factor the maker names for the battery.
A group-size statement is a maker claim about case footprint, not a guarantee of fit in a specific tray or box. Check the dimensions, terminal height and hold-down.
