A screenless Iridium communicator that pairs with the ZOLEO app for messaging, with check-in and SOS buttons on the device, a dedicated SMS number and email, and SOS to Global Rescue.

Satellite network and coverage claim
Iridium satellite network, which ZOLEO describes as the only commercial satellite network with truly global coverage. Paired with the app, messaging also moves over cellular and Wi-Fi when available.
SOS coordination service
Covered SOS button on the device, or SOS in the ZOLEO app. Alerts go to Global Rescue, which ZOLEO names as its emergency response coordination partner, monitored 24/7/365 with two-way progress updates in the app.
Plan structure
Active monthly plan required: Prepare (a monthly satellite message allowance) or Protect (unlimited satellite messages under a Fair Use Policy). Three-month minimum term and a one-time activation fee, then month-to-month auto-renewal. Location Share+ is an optional add-on.

Before you choose.

Which plan will the device need?

Every device here requires an active subscription for messaging and SOS. Plans differ in minimum term, monthly or annual billing, message allowances and whether service can be paused, and activation fees apply.

Does the network cover where you go?

Iridium devices carry global coverage claims, while SPOT's Globalstar map separates SOS and two-way message coverage by region. Every coverage claim assumes a clear view of the sky.

Who receives an SOS, and what happens next?

Each maker routes SOS alerts to a named coordination service that contacts responders. That is not a guarantee of rescue, and rescue costs can fall to the user.

Will you type on the device or on your phone?

Devices with a screen and keyboard can message without a phone. Screenless devices rely on an app for anything beyond check-in and SOS.
