Start with the photograph you want to hand someone: a postcard, a small sticker or a bordered instant-film print. The printer determines the media system, but the complete purchase also needs suitable images, supported software and the correct power equipment. A compact case does not prove that everything needed to print is in the box.
Compare equal measurement bases
Instant-film sheets have an image opening and a surrounding border. A quoted full sheet is not the same quantity as the visible picture. Some dye-sublimation paper also has perforated ends that are removed after printing. Read the measurement basis beside the dimensions before deciding which photograph will fit a frame, wallet or album.
Product-family names can be approximate format labels. For the reviewed Polaroid 2x3 Generation 2, the manufacturer states a 54 x 86 mm print. Do not replace that figure by calculating dimensions from the product name. Likewise, the CP1500 postcard sheet is measured after its perforations are removed.
Buy the exact consumables
Dye-sublimation printers transfer colour using their compatible paper and ink system. The selected instax printers instead expose their own instant film. Mini, SQUARE and WIDE film are separate formats, and Polaroid Hi-Print paper cartridges are not Polaroid instant-camera film. Similar dimensions or a shared brand do not establish compatibility.
Check whether any media is supplied. A paper cassette is a holder, not paper or ink. The selected instax packages exclude film, and the Polaroid printer-only package excludes its paper cartridge. A retailer starter kit needs an explicitly different package record rather than borrowing the base product contents.
Trace the complete power path
An internal battery is different from a separately sold battery pack. USB-C can also mean data without charging: Canon explicitly states that CP1500 does not provide USB charging or power input. The Polaroid Generation 2 does charge through USB-C but does not include the cable. Pack the documented supply and cable, not an assumed common connector.
Check the image workflow before travelling
Install the supported app or driver and test a photo before relying on the printer away from home. Bluetooth printing, Wi-Fi, memory cards and USB data are different input paths. Some current models support computer drivers as well as phones; check the exact model and operating-system version rather than copying a claim from another generation.
Keep timing and quality claims qualified
Film ejection is not completed development. Manufacturer timing can exclude wireless transfer, processing or later development, so do not rank printers by incompatible timing definitions. Resolution and processing labels are specifications, not hands-on evidence of colour accuracy, durability or print quality. This comparison includes no independent print-quality, battery-endurance or archival-permanence testing.
Common questions
Does USB-C always mean USB charging?
No. CP1500 has a USB-C data connection but explicitly does not support USB charging or power supply.
Is film-ejection time the total time to a developed photograph?
No. Keep transfer, recording/ejection and instant-film development conditions separate.
