Choose an e-reader: books, displays and optional pens

Check the route from book to device

Separate a supported file format from permission to read a protected purchase. EPUB or PDF support does not remove DRM. A store, library or audiobook service may require an account, supported country, library catalogue and compatible software. Check a representative book or document before choosing a device around an assumed integration.

The Kobo selections use the Kobo reading ecosystem and documented file-transfer routes. The selected BOOX devices run Android 13 and support third-party apps through Google Play. Android expands possible workflows, but individual apps can have their own account, firmware and interface requirements. No universal app-compatibility test is claimed here.

Separate color detail from screen size

The selected color models distinguish 300 PPI black-and-white content and 150 PPI color content. Do not display the monochrome figure as the color resolution. Diagonal size also does not tell you how a scanned textbook or fixed-layout PDF will look; consider the page dimensions, zoom and navigation you actually need. Published specifications do not establish measured contrast, refresh quality or handwriting delay.

Treat the pen as a separate purchase decision

Clara BW and Clara Colour do not support Kobo Stylus. Libra Colour supports an optional Kobo Stylus 2. Go 7 and Go Color 7 Gen II support the named BOOX InkSense and InkSense Plus accessories; the original Go Color 7 has different support. Check the exact generation and application behavior. A compatible pen, promotional case or subscription is not included unless the selected package explicitly says so.

Read the water conditions and storage limits

The Kobo sources state IPX8 with defined time and depth conditions. BOOX says its water-repellent design is not waterproof and is not intended for immersion. Those are different claims. Follow care instructions rather than treating either as permission for every liquid or environment.

Nominal storage includes space used by the operating system and apps. Audiobooks, comics and scanned documents can be much larger than ordinary novels, so a claimed book count is not a universal capacity measure. Keep a copy of personal documents and understand where notes are stored or synchronized before depending on a cloud service.

Confirm the complete order

Match the device name, generation, color and storage to the seller selection. Check the cable, optional cover and stylus separately, along with regional warranty and return terms. This catalogue does not claim measured battery endurance, accessibility testing on physical devices, or that paid books and services are bundled with a reader.
