Before you choose.

Does the lock fit your door preparation?

Backset, door thickness and bore diameters are measurements you can check. A phrase such as fits most doors is not a fit statement for your door.

How will the lock reach your phone or home system?

Built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread with Matter, Zigbee and Z-Wave are different paths. A hub, border router or Apple Home hub that is sold separately is not in the box.

How will people open the door?

Keypad codes, fingerprints, Apple Home Key, app control and a physical key are separate documented methods. Record what the manufacturer lists for the exact SKU, not the family.
