Once the room size is settled, three things decide how a purifier fits into daily life: how much power it draws, which filter you will keep buying and how you will control it. The catalogue records all three for the exact US package, including the cases where the manufacturer's own documents disagree.
Read rated power as a published maximum
Rated or maximum power describes the electrical input the manufacturer publishes, usually for the highest fan setting. It is not a measured average for the setting you will actually run, and it is not an energy bill. The catalogue lists 25 W for Airmega 100, 17 W for Blue Pure 511i Max, 64 W for Airmega 250, 66 W for Airmega 400S and 77 W for Airmega Mighty AP-1512HH. Blueair labels its 17 W as energy consumption whose actual draw depends on fan speed. The Winix 5510 figure of 65 W is the rated input in the current US and Canada manual rather than the product page.
Some models carry two figures for the same US unit. The Vital 100S-P product page lists 35 W for LAP-V102S-WUS while its linked manual identifies LAP-V102S-AUSR at 32 W. The Vital 200S-P page lists 50 W and its manual 51 W. The Core 600S-P page lists 49 W while the linked LAP-C601S-WUS manual lists 66 W. In each case the catalogue records a conflict rather than choosing a figure. Treat a conflicting field as a reason to check the label on the unit you receive, not as a lower or higher rating.
Identify the exact replacement filter and its part number
Filter names are easy to confuse across a product family, so match the part to the model before comparing upkeep. Winix 5510 uses Filter Q, SKU 1712-0123-00, with a recommended 12-month replacement. Airmega 250 uses one Max2 filter, SKU 3109144. Airmega 400S uses the two-piece 400 and 400S Max2 set, SKU 3104756, with one filter per side; the 300-series set is a different item. Airmega 100 uses a single combined filter, and the Mighty AP-1512HH shares a filter set with the 200M that is offered through several custom-filter selectors.
Blue Pure 511i Max uses the F5MAX Particle + Carbon filter; a filter for a similarly named 511 model is not assumed compatible. Core 600S-P uses the original three-stage replacement LRF-C601-WUS, with specialty variants sold separately. The Vital 100S-P and Vital 200S-P use the Vital 100S and Vital 200S replacement filters, whose pages give 6–12 months while the purifier manuals give different intervals, so follow the instructions for the exact unit. The catalogue does not supply filter prices or stock.
Separate washable prefilters from the filters you replace
Several of these purifiers pair a washable prefilter with a replaceable main filter. Coway documents washable prefilters alongside its Max2 and Mighty filter sets, Levoit distinguishes its washable prefilter from the replacement filters, and both Blueair models ship with a Stockholm Fog fabric prefilter in the standard package. Washing the prefilter does not extend the main filter's interval, and the main filter should not be assumed washable. Follow the maintenance instructions for each component before applying water or a cleaning product.
The US EPA's buying guidance also separates particle removal from gas removal. Activated carbon stages appear in several of these units, including the Winix AOC carbon filter and the Blueair Particle + Carbon filters, but CADR does not rate gases. If odors or gases are the concern, read the filter description rather than the particle rating.
Decide how you want to control the purifier
App control is documented for Winix 5510 through the Winix Smart app, for Vital 100S-P, Vital 200S-P and Core 600S-P through VeSync, for Blue Pure 211i Max and Blue Pure 511i Max through the Blueair app, and for Airmega 400S through Wi-Fi and the mobile app. For Airmega Mighty AP-1512HH, Airmega 250 and Airmega 100, the reviewed US pages and manuals establish on-unit controls without an app claim; the catalogue leaves the field unknown rather than recording no. The 250 is also a different product from the 250S and 250 Art, whose app features are not assumed.
Automatic modes behave differently. Coway's Eco setting on the Mighty can stop the fan after 30 minutes without detected pollution, which some people prefer and others find disruptive. The Winix manual provides a separate control for enabling or disabling PlasmaWave. The Mighty includes a bipolar ionizing stage alongside its filters. The EPA advises avoiding devices that intentionally produce ozone, so check whether an electronic stage can be switched off and read the manufacturer's description of it before buying.
Before you buy
- Confirm the exact model code and US electrical version on the selected package.
- Write down the replacement filter part number, the number of filters per set and the manufacturer's interval.
- Note which document supplies the rated power and whether another document disagrees.
- Decide whether you need app control, a sleep mode or a switchable ionizing stage, and check each against the manual.
- Open the source notes for any field marked unknown or conflicting before relying on it.
Rated power, filter identity and controls are published facts for each exact US package. They tell you what to budget and how you will operate the purifier; they do not establish how clean the air in your room will be.
Common questions
Does a lower rated power mean a cheaper purifier to run?
Not on its own. Rated power is a published maximum, usually at the highest fan setting, and your use depends on the setting and the hours you run it. The catalogue has not measured consumption for any model, and several ratings conflict between a product page and its manual.
Can I fit the Airmega 300-series filter set to an Airmega 400S?
No. The 400S uses the two-piece 400 and 400S Max2 set, SKU 3104756, with one filter for each side. The 300 and 300S filter set is a different item.
